WALGREENS' CLEARANCE

While visiting Walgreens, always check out their clearance section.  It is usually located at the back of the store on an end cap.  Sometimes, there are several end caps! (There were 2 today cram-packed with goodies!)  Also, as you stroll through the aisles picking up all your great sale/coupon deals, keep an eye out for the bright orange clearance tags throughout the store.  There's lots of terrific clearance bargains to take advantage of in every section of the store ~ don't miss out!  

Tonight, I strolled to the back of my neighborhood Walgreens and found their name brand Maxi pads, packages of 24, for $1.49 (marked on clearance).  Pretty good deal, I thought.  So, I happily went on my merry way to the cash register....only to be further surprised at my great find.  The pads rang up B1G1 (Buy-One-Get-One) 50% Off!  So, my second one was only $.74!  Really a great deal!  This happens more times than not when you find a good deal on a clearance item at Walgreens.  Many times you will find it further reduced when you get to checkout. 

This is one good scenario where clipped coupons come in handy.  While many of us keep our coupons as whole inserts and file by date, there is justification to clipping some of your coupons and keeping them in a binder, so they are easily accessible when you do find a great clearance item.  Just think, if you have a coupon for the clearance item, too, you are going to happy-dance your way to the counter with a big smile on your face!  It's contagious, you know!  Finding a great deal, on clearance, and with a coupon in hand....WOW!  What could be better than that? And, are you ready for this?  Every once in awhile....ching, ching, ching.......a RR (Register Reward ~ used like cash on your next transaction) will print out at the end of your transaction!!  Can you say MONEYMAKER?  Yes!  It's true.  Surprises are always so much fun!  You just never know what you will end up spending or how much change you will be putting in your pocket when you go rummaging through the clearance section!  So, always keep those coupons handy.  Never leave home without them.....only leave the American Express card at home!

COUPONING 101

Have you noticed lately that the internet is raving full of blogs, articles, posts, twitters and websites all about extreme couponing and how to find the next FREE deal?  Saving money at the grocery stores and drug stores has become a necessity for many and has probably become the biggest growing trend of the decade.  And because of that, manufacturers and individual stores are producing coupons, not only in your Sunday paper inserts, but online and electronically, as well!  Your major chain drug stores all have special programs to help you save, too.  Many times, you can combine the store's sale price with their rewards program, plus add a store coupon & a manufacturer coupon, and walk away with a cart full of FREE merchandise!  

So, where do you find all these internet coupons??  There's a website called COUPON LYNX which is the best source on the internet for finding printable coupons and special bargains.  This site is updated daily and will keep you abreast of not only printables, but also electronic coupons such as Cellfire that can be loaded directly to your phone.  Before you plan any shopping trip, always stop by to see if there are coupons you can use.  Also, once you have become an extreme couponer, you will know how important it is for you to check the site on a daily basis, as some printables will run out of stock (especially the high dollar coupons and those coupons that are rare).  If you see coupons for items you know you will use, always print them out at the time you see them.  It is always best to be prepared!  You never know when you might find an unadvertised special for a product you frequently buy.  Printing them out as soon as they are published will always ensure that you are ready for the best savings on commonly purchased items. It will also afford you the opportunity to try a product that you do not normally buy!

On The Road To FREEDOM!!! Unloading the STUFF!

There's an amazing trend populating blogland lately.  Somehow, ironic, as I have been pondering the same thoughts and have been preparing to blog about it, too.  For the past two weeks, I have contemplated changing my entire thought process on thrifting....and turning my energies to purging, decluttering, minimalizing, downsizing - whatever you want to call it.  It all relates to that nasty word beginning with an "S" - STUFF!!! 

What are we to do with all this STUFF that we have accumulated over time?  This stuff that we so happily paid so little to own.  Stuff that we were so proud to proclaim as awesome buys....bragging how much we saved.  But, did we really get a bargain, and at what expense?  How much of this accumulation are actual products that we need or use on a regular basis?  I look around and can only come up with one exclamation........AAAAAAAAHHHH!!  Insanity!!!

Do I really enjoy all this stuff?  Have I found pleasure in taking care of, moving, dusting, cleaning, and moving it again and again?  Why is there a need to fill up space?   And, when is it enough?  When do we stop?  When do we realize that stuff now consumes our every breath, our every move, our every moment in time??  It completely captivates us to the point that we do not have time for that which truly brings enjoyment - family, friends, and relationships.   

I have spent a great amount of time over the past few weeks reading blog after blog, and eBook after eBook on the topic of minimalism.  And, I have come to the realization that all this STUFF has to go! It clutters my home, my space, my time, and my mind!  You will find that if your space is cluttered, your mind is cluttered.   And, when you regain your space, you regain your mind!  It's a wonderful thing!  I just needed a little bit of a push and some enthusiasm from those who started this way of life before me.  I guess I needed to read over and over again how "freeing" it is to let go.  I am now ready!!
